Hi, I’m Louise, the founder and the “LuLu” behind LuLu International Food Market.
My journey to LuLu International Food Market began long before the business itself. Born in Liberia, West Africa, and later spending part of my childhood in a refugee camp in Ghana, I was raised by an entrepreneurial mother who taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and creating opportunities for yourself.
I watched my mother work tirelessly in her restaurant to provide for our family and pursue her dreams. She took something she was incredibly good at—cooking—and turned it into a way to support her family. Watching her showed me from an early age what determination, entrepreneurship, and believing in your own abilities could accomplish.
As I grew older and started a family of my own, I wanted to build something that would allow me to share the foods and flavors I grew up with while also showing my children the importance of entrepreneurship, hard work, and being proud of where we come from.
That vision became LuLu International Food Market.
For me, this business is about more than groceries. Food connects us to home, family, memories, and culture. There is something special about finding the ingredients you grew up eating—especially when you live far away from the place you once called home.
I have found a little piece of home through LuLu International Food Market, and I hope our customers experience that same feeling when they receive their orders.

LuLu International Food Market is an online specialty grocery store providing authentic African foods and international products, with a special focus on the foods and flavors of West Africa.
Our selection includes frozen and dry foods, seafood, meats, traditional ingredients, pantry staples, and specialty products that can sometimes be difficult to find locally.
We proudly serve customers throughout the United States through our online store. Orders are carefully prepared and shipped directly to our customers, with special handling and packaging for frozen and perishable products.

LuLu International Food Market was built from my own connection to Liberia, Ghana, family, food, and entrepreneurship, but it has grown into something that allows me to share that connection with families across the country.
